HONEY CHILI CRISP TOFU BITES
Servings: 2–3 Prep Time: 15 min Cook Time: 18–22 min
These tofu bites are crisp on the outside and tender in the center. Extra-firm tofu is air-fried until golden, then lightly tossed in honey and Yo Amma Indian Chili Crisp so the crunchy bits cling without smothering. Savory, sweet, and deeply satisfying in every bite.
INGREDIENTS
FOR THE TOFU
14–16 oz extra-firm tofu, pressed and cut into 1½-inch cubes
¾ tsp salt
½ tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
½ tsp black pepper
1½ tbsp Yo Amma Indian Chili Crisp oil (mostly oil, minimal bits)
FOR TOSSING
1–1½ tbsp Yo Amma Indian Chili Crisp (oil + crunchy bits)
1½ tbsp honey
FOR FINISHING (OPTIONAL)
Whole or crushed roasted peanuts
Flaky salt (optional)
HOW TO MAKE IT
Prepare the Tofu
Press the tofu for at least 10 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut into evenly sized cubes. Removing water helps the surface crisp instead of steam.
Season the Tofu
In a bowl, gently toss the tofu with salt, Kashmiri chili powder, black pepper, and Yo Amma chili crisp oil until lightly coated. The pieces should look glossy, not wet.
Air Fry the Tofu
Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C). Arrange the tofu in a single layer with space between pieces and air fry for 18–22 minutes, flipping halfway, until deeply golden with crisp edges.
Lightly Toss
While the tofu is hot, transfer to a large bowl. Add honey and Yo Amma Indian Chili Crisp and toss gently just once or twice — enough for the chili crisp to cling in spots without turning into a heavy sauce.
Finish and Serve
Spread onto a platter and sprinkle with peanuts and flaky salt if using. Serve immediately while hot and crisp.
